Joseph M Carden

With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the passing of Joseph M. Carden (Papa), who left our world on November 21, 2025 at age 83. Born on May 21, 1942, in Akron, Ohio, Joe was the third of nine children born to Andy and Agnes Carden. He spent 62 wonderful years married to the love of his life and childhood sweetheart, Linda, and he cherished every single day with her. Joe Carden was a great man. Some would say he was a legend. He had a heart of gold, and was loved everywhere he went. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, singing karaoke, fishing, golfing, watching sports, joking around, and holding hands with his wife, Linda. He was sweet, stubborn, extremely patient, kind-hearted, honest, helpful, considerate, loving, loyal, and he gave one heck of a good hug. Joe is now reunited in heaven with his daughter, Monica Phillips; his parents, Andy and Agnes Carden; his sisters, Mary, Corleen (Cory), and Angela (Angie); his brother, Andy; and dear friends including Hawk, Katz, Gordy, and others who have passed on before him. He will be missed dearly by those who remain, including his wife, Linda Carden; his daughter, Michele Carden; his sisters Kathy, Linda, and Rose; his brother, Jim; his son-in-law, Mike Phillips; adopted nephew, Tom Phillips; adopted aunt, Kathleen Tarr; his grandchildren, Jamie (and Andy) Babbo, Lauren Carden, and Meghan Haggard; his great-granddaughters Joscalynn, Lily, and Ellie; and good friends such as Bev and Bruce, Steve and Debi, Joe (Ron) and Kathy, Warren and Sandra, Harry, Bob, Joe Andrews, and many other friends from Breeze Hill, the Moose, and countless others who loved him. Joe was a hardworking man, at times maintaining three jobs to support his family when his kids were young. He built his career at Goodyear Tires, and retired after 30+ years of service. He knew how to fix or clean just about anything, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand, even if his body was in pain. He was a truly selfless person. An angel among us. Joe was the type of guy who would do anything for the ones that he loved, and was known for being one of the sweetest human beings you could ever meet. He spent his life caring for and loving his family so deeply, especially his wife, Linda, who made him so happy. Friends and family will remember him for his warm heart, and his ability to make anyone feel like family. A Celebration of Life service will be held by the Carden family, in both Florida and Ohio, at times which will be disclosed at a later date by the family. This will be an opportunity for all who loved Joe to come, tell stories, and celebrate the life that he lived. We want to thank everyone for all of the love and support you have shown through this difficult time. It’s times like these that you realize how truly blessed you are to have such wonderful folks surrounding you. Thank you. Joe (Papa) will be so deeply missed by so many, and while he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in our hearts and through the impact he made on so many lives. May his soul rest in God’s peace, until we meet again.
