Darrell Delayne Edwards Sr.

Darrell Delayne Edwards Sr., 68, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2025. Darrell was born on September 13, 1957, at Aliquippa Hospital in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Lillie Hughes Edwards Baker and Raymond Edwards. He was preceded in death by his father; sister Debra McElhaney; stepbrother Arthur Baker; sister-in-law Terri Yeater; stepfather Joseph Baker Jr.; stepbrother-in-law John Leekley; and stepmother Ellen Edwards. Darrell was a proud graduate of Hopewell High School in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. He spent his career as a truck driver, a profession he took pride in and dedicated many years to. Darrell had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping, and could often be found relaxing while watching football. He was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and enjoyed westerns, baseball, NASCAR, and the Outdoor Network. In his younger years, Darrell proudly served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Hookstown Fire Department and the New Galilee Fire Department, and he was a member of the LMBA Club. As a grandfather, his grandchildren loved to tease him about being Santa Claus, a role he embraced with humor and love. Darrell will be deeply missed by those who survive him, including his loving wife of 36 wonderful years, Karen Reed Edwards; his mother Lillie Baker; daughter Rachel Redfern and husband Ronald Redfern; son Darrell Edwards Jr. and wife Connie Edwards; stepdaughter Danielle Reed; stepsisters Amanda Baker Leekley and Laura Baker Almond; sister-in-law Denise Michael Jarasiewicz; brother-in-law Harry McElhaney; niece Rayann McElhaney Willis; and nephew James McElhaney. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Elizabeth, Ronald Jr., Maria, and Rebecca Redfern; Hailee, Darrell III, and Beau Edwards; and Damien Reed Peterec; as well as his beloved great-granddaughter, Opal Redfern. Darrell’s legacy of love, dedication, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A Celebration of Life service will be held on December 18, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Foxwood Village Clubhouse.
